World University Debating Championships 1987

In 1987 the UCD Literary & Historical Society became the first Irish debating union to host World University Debating Championships.

The final was held at the National Concert Hall on Saturday 3 January with John Hume serving as Chairman. The winning team was Kevin Sneader & Austin Lally (Glasgow University Union) while the award for best individual went to Michael Hall (University of Oxford).
